Eerste Amels 200 superjacht rolt uit loods

Het mag de afgelopen week winters weer geweest zijn, maar voor de eerste Amels 200 was dat het moment om naar buiten gelaten te worden. Het schip werd op een rollend platform naar buiten gereden en voorzichtig in het water gelegd. De zestig meter lange Amels 200 (197 voet lang) is een doorontwikkeling van de Amels 188. Het interieur van het jacht is een ontwerp van Reymond Langton, terwijl het exterieur door Tim Heywood is getekend.

Heywood is uiteraard nogal in zijn nopjes met het ontwerp van het schip: "There are many features of this design that bring a smile to my face. The many flying buttresses, the complex winding surfaces, the upturned deck ends, the integrated life rafts, the sculptural mast and the complex stern, all form a harmonious design that sits securely in her environment, of which I am extremely proud. I believe her delicate, fluid lines will prove to be timeless and she will still look as attractive in 50 years' time, as she does now."

Wat zou een superjacht zijn zonder een lift die op alle vier de dekken stopt? Of zonder een sportzaal met airconditioning op het zonnedek? Ramen van de vloer tot het plafond in de eigenaars-suite? Allemaal uiteraard aanwezig op deze Amels 200. Dankzij de extra voeten ten opzichte van het eerdere model is ook het zwemplatform achter het schip tegenwoordig groter.
